"This little gem reminded me of the first time I entered the Bertone factory in Grugliasco, it was 2012 and I was working on my second Maserati Worldwide Convention that was to be held there. We were the first to enter, the new Quattroporte would soon be produced in that place and dealers from all over the world, in addition to seeing it for the first time, would also see the maquette of the new Ghibli.
What can I say, coachbuilders like Bertone have decisively created shapes that have really made possible the success of many Italian brands, they were tailors, they had a passion that gave shape to objects that went beyond the logic of the company, they had to create and leave their signature, this was enough to have each their own personality.
Symbol of this world is this rare Fiat 850 Sport Racer in the Berlinetta version, characterized by a metal roof covered in vinyl material instead of the soft top, not removable but bolted to the bodywork to make it become a real coupé.
The heart here in the 903 cc and 50 hp version capable of making it travel at over 150 km/h. This model is from 1969, part of a custom-built range created by Carrozzeria Bertone where every single detail, pleasant both to the eye and to the touch, makes it a beautiful collector's item accessible to many. My dream? Let it go to a young newcomer who can take it around to rallies and tell its story for the next fifty years."
